On the heels of an Asheville musician joining Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, more big Asheville music news: Asheville band Floating Action, who’d previously attracted attention from major-label act Dr. Dog, scores big again. Harvest Recordings (the record label of Asheville’s indie record store, Harvest Records), together with Removador Recordings and Solutions (Jim James’ label), releases  Floating Action’s upcoming record “Fake Blood” in a limited-to-500-copies vinyl pressing later this summer.

We’re also told there may be some Jim James/Floating Action remixes on their way soon.

From the Harvest Records newsletter (always a fun read, and my favorite newsletter in Asheville). Read the whole newsletter here:

BIG NEWS for HARVEST RECORDINGS!

Some of you may know that we have our own record label, Harvest Recordings, for which we’ve released a handful of items (mostly on vinyl) over the last few years.

Well, Harvest Recordings is pleased to announce that we’ve teamed up with JIM JAMES (of My Morning Jacket) to co-release the newest record from…FLOATING ACTION

We’re super excited about this!

Harvest Recordings & Removador Recordings and Solutions (Jim’s label) will present Floating Actions newest full-length “Fake Blood” in a limited-to-500 copies vinyl pressing later in the summer.

Things are pretty exciting on the Floating Action front these days for a variety of reasons–of course, our very own freshly-permed Mark has been playing bass in the band since local all star Michael Libramento got called up to the big leagues as a member of Grace Potter and the Nocturnals (and, y’know, play on Leno or whatever) —

And the band is set to play this July’s Forecastle Festival in Louisville —

And Jim James‘ involvement and support has been raising the stokage level something fierce (look out for some Yim/F.A. remixes on their way soon…)

And most importantly, “Fake Blood” is the freshest set of jams that will be laid upon your ears all year! We can’t wait for you to hear it.

More details very soon. But in the meantime, if you’re interested in reserving a copy for your own beautiful self, just shoot an email back and we’ll make sure you’re kept in the loop. We hope these puppies fly off the shelves all across the world.
