Mountain Xpress reporter Jake Frankel tweets that a former Asheville High School student Chris Chalk has a regular role in the new HBO series The Newsroom.

Frankel:

Chalk graduated Asheville High in 1996 and ended up moving to New York City to pursue his acting career. He worked in television, including Law and Order SUV, and on Broadway. The Urban News in Asheville reported that Chalk won an award for his work during the 2009-10 Broadway season. His turn as Cory Maxson in the Broadway revival of Fences by August Wilson won Chalk the notice. Chalk worked beside Denzel Washington in the play.

The Newsroom, created by Aaron Sorkin, has received mixed reviews. Sorkin is best known for his work on The West Wing. Check out what The New Yorker says about The Newsroom.
