Fun! Here’s the press release, from carolinamountaindog.com:

The first annual “WestvilleMinster” Dog Show, a dog show for all dogs, will be held on Saturday, April 28 from 12 to 4 PM at Patton Avenue Pet Company, 1388 Patton Avenue in Asheville. For guests looking to add a new family member, there will be pet adoptions through Animal Compassion Network during the event.

Prizes will be awarded in categories that include “Best Smile,” “Best Trick,” “Most Mysterious Heritage,” “Best Costume,” Best Lap Dog over 50 Pounds,” and more. Contest winners will receive prizes including trophies, gift baskets, and gift certificates. Dog registration is $10 per category with a maximum of three categories per dog. Admission to the event is $5. Only ten dogs will be entered in each category so pre-registration is recommended.

In addition to the dog contests, the event will also feature food vendors, live music and special guest judges including She-Wrex of the Blue Ridge Roller Girls, Tiffany LeMeaux of Freaks & Geeks Tattoo Sideshow and Jenny White of Dog-Ed .

Proceeds from the WestvilleMinster Dog Show will benefit Animal Compassion Network, a leading animal rescue organization in Western North Carolina. For more information about the event and to download a registration form, visit http://www.animalcompassionnetwork.org/ .

I hope to be there with my pooch, Sammie, above.
