In my earlier post Eric Ruolph post (see link below), I said all our questions about him and his motivations would probably never be answered. His guilty pleas today assure this.

There will be no long, drawn out trials. No studied defense. We’ll have to glean what we can from some soft Diane Sawyer interview (if she gets it) and his 11-page manifesto released Wednesday.

I thought about including the entire thing here, then thought better of it. Why give the guy yet another small way to get his message out? But I am fascinated by the man. Exactly what motivates him? How does he see the world? How did he survive so long in the woods?

So here are a few excerpts:
The Plan
Even thought (sic) the conception and purpose of the so-called Olympic movement is to promote the values of global socialism, as perfectly expressed in the song “Imagine” by John Lennon, which was the theme of the 1996 Games – even though the purpose of the Olympics is to promote these despicable ideals, the purpose of the attack on July 27th was to confound, anger and embarrass the Washington government in the eyes of the world for its abominable sanctioning of abortion on demand.

So it seems that the run-up to the Olympics is what got Rudolph’s mind really working. He really wanted to use the world stage to draw attention to his cause. No real mystery here. He had seen other so-called causes with the government as target: Waco, Oklahoma City, Ruby Ridge.

The plan was to force the cancellation of the Games, or at least create a state of insecurity to empty the streets around the venues and thereby eat into the vast amounts of money invested. The plan was conceived in haste and carried out with limited resources, planning and preparation – it was a mnster that kept getting out of control the more I got into it. Because I could not acquire the necessary high explosives, I had to dismiss the unrealistic notion of knocking down the power grid surrounding Atlanta and consequently pulling the plug on the Olympics for their duration.

Holy shit! Did he really plan to knock down the entire Atlanta power grid??? You’ve got to remember that this was pre-Sept. 11. The biggest terror attack on U.S. soil up to this point was the McVeigh bombing. Sounds like we were damn lucky he only did the damage he did, and not more.

The plan that I finally settled upon was to use five low-tech timed explosives to be placed one at a time on successive days throughout the Olympic schedule, each preceded by a forty to fifty minute warning given to 911. The location and time of detonation was to be given, and th intent was to thereby clear each of the areas, leaving only uniformed arms-carrying government personnel exposed to potential injury.

Rudolph goes on to insist that he never meant to hurt innocent bystanders. He just wanted to mess up a few feds. Maybe the guy has a conscience after all.
