Win a big box of baked goods from Geraldine’s Bakery!

Hello Asheville!

It’s time for another contest! This time, in honor of the trip to New York City that Dawn and I took, I have arranged for one of you lucky ducks to win a big ol’ box of awesome New York City style baked goods from Geraldine’s Bakery on Merrimon Ave right here in Asheville!

As you may or may not know, Geraldine’s owner/baker is Fred Dehlow, who is from Long Island. Fred’s family ran a bakery up there for generations, and he moved to Asheville a few years ago to open Geraldine’s, which is named after his mom. Fred makes all kinds of kick-ass baked goods, including a lot of New York City classics like chocolate cigars, babka, black and white cookies, and of course donuts and danish and pretty much everything you would associate with a typical New York City Bakery! I love Fred’s baked goods, and I know you will too.

There’s only one step to enter this contest: Below is a piece of Art…

Please make up a TITLE for this artwork and POST IT IN THE COMMENT SECTION BELOW.

Dawn and I attended a ton of art fairs and museums in NYC, and I only allowed myself to take pictures of food-related art. This was one of my faves! That’s an actual person —  a young woman  — playing on her iPhone while watching TV from a fuzzy bean bag chair. Part performance art, part installation, part video art, the box of Cheez-its and giant marshmallow bunny — as well as the plush doo-doo emoji — really sold me. I loved it!

Stupidly, however, I did not write down the name of the artist, or even the title of the piece. Damn it! Now I’m counting on you guys to make-up some clever titles at least, and if you want to make up a clever name for the artist, I’ll give you extra points.

Got it? Just to be clear:

  1. Invent a title for the piece of Art above.
  2. Post it as a comment below.
  3. You will then be eligible to win a big box of NYC style baked goods from Geraldine’s Bakery right here in Asheville!

I will hand-pick one lucky entrant based entirely on how clever their made-up title is, and I will announce the winner next Thursday, March 31st.

So frickn’ easy. Do it!

Speaking of winners…

That’s a winner, Mari! Perfect. I had to look the term up on Wiki, and when I did, I was like, “Hey, not just a perfect title for the piece, but this lady gets extra points for being smart.” I will let Fred at Geraldine’s know that you are our contest winner, and I will be in touch with you via email. Thanks for participating and coming up with a fantastic answer! And for teaching me something I didn’t know. Congrats on the win, I hope you enjoy your big box o’ baked goods! YOM!
