norbury_books_2014Here’s the update, which I found via Northern Buncombe Happenings on FB:

Norbury Books & Cafe

After several months of waiting and no work being done at 725 Haywood Road, we had to let go of our dreams of opening a business in that space.

We’re heartbroken on so many levels. We looked for other available properties in West Asheville, but they weren’t suitable for our purposes. We’re very apologetic to our West Asheville followers, but we were very lucky to find another location that we can work with.

We’ve already begun renovating a great space on North Main Street, Weaverville, and expect to open in July. The property needed only minor renovations. We promise to keep you posted as we make progress. We understand if you stop following us if you’re from West Asheville, but we hope you’ll visit us nonetheless.

Sincerely,

Staff of Norbury Books & Café

I thought that this news was announced back in May. Had they still been planning/hoping on opening in West Asheville anyway?

Wow, the difference in foot traffic between those locations is going to be astronomical. Best of luck to the owners!

And now, finally, it seems there’s work being done in that space… 🙁
