Blackberry winter – that’s what the mountain folks around Ashvegas call this cold snap we’re having. But I’ve lived most of my life in WNC, and I don’t recall any actual snow associated with Blackberry winter. And I don’t ever remember it snowing this late in April. Not that we got a lot of snow – just a light dusting in Asheville.

I have blackberries, and raspberries, growing. The plants are covered with ready-to-burst blooms. I went outside yesterday and covered them all, hoping that this weather wouldn’t kill them.
