Runners and craft beer enthusiasts, mark your calendars for Asheville’s first running race series of its kind, Race to the Taps, featuring a “6-pack” of road races starting and ending at several of Western North Carolina’s premier craft breweries.

Produced by the Asheville Radio Group and Kick It Events, each race in the Race to the Taps running series will be a four-mile, chip timed road race highlighting the views and natural elements surrounding the brewery’s neighborhood. Courses will be designed with varying degrees of difficulty along unique routes appropriate for both the seasoned runner as well as the casual runner/walker. Strollers and pets will not be allowed.

The race series kicks off with an early afternoon race on Saturday, April 25th at Highland Brewing Company followed by an evening race at Pisgah Brewing Company in Black Mountain on Friday, June 12th. The summer races include a morning race on Saturday, July 18th at Asheville Pizza and Brewing on Merrimon Avenue and an evening race in the South Slope of Downtown Asheville on Saturday, August 8th featuring Catawba Brewing, Green Man Brewery, Twin Leaf Brewery and Wicked Weed Brewing. The fifth race will be held on Saturday, October 3rd at Oskar Blues Brewery in Brevard with the final race of the series on Saturday, October 31st at Sierra Nevada Brewing Company in Mills River.

Runners and spectators will enjoy a post-race festival at the finish of each event with music, food trucks, and of course, beer from the host brewery available for purchase. Each runner receives a Race to the Taps T-shirt customized for the race as well as complimentary pour at the end of the race. In keeping with the theme of the series, craft beer centric prizes will be awarded for the top three male and female overall finishers in each age category as well as custom prizes for the top three male and female in Masters and Grandmasters Divisions.

A limited number of “6-pack” race series packages will be available starting Friday, November 28th through December 31st for only $150.00 plus applicable registration fees. The discounted $25 per race fee will only be sold in the 6-pack holiday package. Get all race details at www.racetothetaps.com

Early bird runner registration will begin January 1, 2015 for single races as well as the 6-pack series offered at a higher price in the New Year. Each race will be capped at 750 runners and will include a non-profit partner to receive a portion of race proceeds.

Businesses interested in sponsoring this unique event series or volunteers interested in assisting during the races should contact Nikki Mitchell, Events and Promotions Director for Asheville Radio Group [email protected].
