Downtown Dribble

Want to see 500 people dribbling basketballs through downtown? Then plan on showing up at the Vance Monument in downtown Asheville at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Organizers of the Southern Conference Basketball Tournament will give a free basketball, T-shirt and tickets to the noon session of games to the first 500 children who show up for the Downtown Dribble. The event will include a pep rally with mascots from participating colleges, pep bands and cheerleaders. After the pep rally, the crowd will dribble basketballs in a parade from Pack Square to the U.S. Cellular Center.

To download a waiver, go to Asheville Sports.org. For more information about the tournament, go to socontravel.com.

Registration starts at 9:30 a.m. The event starts at 10:45 a.m.
