@adam I heard Joe was battling around 20% overhead and that the monthly rent was approx. $10k/month. Like you said, raise prices accordingly. But then peeps bailed in protest. No wonder the place failed.
I heard similar information that the rent was $8k – $10k / month. I don’t see how a new restaurant in Weaverville can be successful with a $277k initial buy-in and $10k/month rent. There simply is not enough business in Weaverville to support those numbers. Wouldn’t be surprised if the space stays vacant for awhile.
I have to agree with you on this assessment. And besides, when was the last time I have heard anyone say, “Let’s drive up to Weaverville for some drinks?”
@smytty EVG (imo) would better cater to the WVL pop as it’s not trying to be “upscale pub fare”. It’s just a big sports bar with good, REASONABLY PRICED food. And if they keep the Jack of Hearts music stage.. even better. 🙂
My experiences (though few) were similar. Decent burger, but not $12. Okay fish and chips, but small portions for $14.
Good. BBQ is a niche and it wouldn’t survive there. I’d like to see a place along the lines of an East Village Grille move in.
How would you differentiate East Village from Jack of Hearts?

Price usually matches their overhead. I’d expect the lease for that place to be pretty steep.
It’s a great looking space. Hopefully, someone fills it eventually. And soon.
