RON RASH PRESENTS NEW SHORT STORY COLLECTION – A TICKETED EVENT

We are thrilled to welcome back one of our favorite authors, Ron Rash, and to celebrate the release of his new collection of short stories, Nothing Gold Can Stay. Rash’s family has lived in the southern Appalachian Mountains since the mid-1700’s, and it is this region that is the primary focus of his writing. He is the author of the 2009 PEN/Faulkner finalist and New York Times bestselling novel Serena, in addition to three other prizewinning novels, One Foot in Eden, Saints at the River, and The World Made Straight; four collections of poems; and four collections of stories, among them Burning Bright, which won the 2010 Frank O’Connor International Short Story Award, and Chemistry and Other Stories, which was a finalist for the 2007 PEN/Faulkner Award.

Twice the recipient of the O. Henry Prize, he teaches at Western Carolina University. About his new collection, Publishers Weekly has written, “Rash impresses with clear-eyed, sympathetic writing about flawed and troubled characters,” while the Library Journal describes them as “…thematically paint[ing] Appalachia not as a definitive place but as a series of many interconnected ways of relating to human and environmental frailty.”

This event is ticketed and seating is limited. A copy of the book comes with each ticket.
