More of what’s going around:

-Gatlinburg update: Officials are now saying that 11 people died in the fires, with the investigation ongoing. Some 80 people were treated for injuries, some severe. More than 700 homes and businesses were damaged or destroyed. More than 17,000 acres burned, including acreage in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, where the fire started along the Chimney Tops trail on Nov. 23. Investigators suspect arson as the cause.

-PUSH Skate Shop is hosting a new art exhibition in its gallery. “Running From Madness” is a group show curated by artist Maxx Feist. The reception is set for 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Dec. 9. The show will run from Dec.9 to Jan. 23. Refreshments will be provided by Pabst Blue Ribbon.

-The Outdoor Gear Builders of WNC recently published a holiday gift guide with some outdoorsy ideas for stuff, all of which is made right here in WNC. Go here to check it out.

-LEAF is hiring. The organization is looking for a marketing and promotions coordinator, at 3/4-full time, as well as a full-time cultural arts administrator.

Zagat has named Asheville one of the 26 hottest food cities of 2016.

-City Bakery has moved its bread production away from its location on Biltmore Avenue to a new, 3,600-square-foot building located at 85 Fletcher Commercial Drive in Fletcher. The move will allow the bakery to eventually triple its current production, according to a news release and renovate the cafe at 60 Biltmore Ave.

-On Jan. 28, 2017, the Flatiron Writers Room in West Asheville will host a day-long retreat. The event includes communal writing, time for yourself, an individual session with novelist Heather Newton and fellowship with other participants, according to a press release. More here.

-UpCountry Brewing Company in West Asheville will celebrate its grand opening with an all-day event on Dec. 17. Festivities include the release of the brewery’s signature house beers, live music beginning at 4 p.m., and several food specials from Chef Matt Kovitch beginning at 11 a.m. There is no cover charge. Kid-friendly activities are also planned. The band lineup includes John Hardy Party, the Jerry Garcia Jam with Jacob Bowman, Chris Kew, Chris O’Neill and then Josh Phillips and Friends closing out the party.

-The annual Montford holiday home tour will be held from 1-5 p.m. on Dec. 10. Tickets are $25. Here’s more:
