MG Road presents: Return to the Roadhouse
We will be welcoming back MG veterans Kyle Gray Beach (now at Buxton Hall Barbecue) and Pat Hinson (now at Little Trouble in Atlanta) on Wednesday, November 18th for “RETURN TO THE ROADHO– — USE.”

“MG Roadhouse” was a pop-up concept that ran throughout 2014, taking the loveable and humble elements of a bikerbar/divebar/jukejoint in the South and plopping them down right in downtown Asheville, at MG Road. The Roadhouse finale took place in April 2015, as Roadhouse cofounder Pat Hinson left for Atlanta.

Pat and Kyle will be returning to MG for a Roadhouse reunion on November 18th, serving cheap, unpretentious drinks & cold beer provided by Pabst Blue Ribbon. Chef Joe Marple, known for his Blue Ribbon Brunches at the Vault, will be have greasy roadside eats sizzling on the grill. Country music and classic rock will abound and MG will be filled with people looking to have a good time, letting loose, enjoying the ice cold beers and good company that only Roadhouse can provide.

-Press release here about a music event at the Grey Eagle:

Aurora Studio & Gallery is proud to announce A Tribute to Syd Barrett, a Benefit Show at the Grey Eagle, on Friday, November 20, 2015 at 8pm.

The idea for the Madcap Collective’s tribute to Syd Barrett came about, during the tail end of a 16 hour drive from Asheville, North Carolina to Boston Massachusetts. When Ian Reardon, from the band Alarm Clock Conspiracy, reached into a box of CD’s he had brought along to keep his mind occupied during the trip. He was thinking to himself that he was about to lose his sanity at that point and needed to listen to something that would center his mind for the remaining 45 minutes. The first CD he pulled out was Syd Barrett’s, “Barrett” album, which he immediately laughed and thought this was the furthest thing from “sane”. Upon listening to the soothing sounds of the first track he realized it was the perfect CD. The idea for a tribute show, The Madcap Collective, and a benefit show for an organization that supports the arts and those who are affected by mental health needs immediately took shape.

Roger Keith “Syd” Barrett (6 January 1946 – 7 July 2006) was an English musician, composer, singer, songwriter, and painter. Best known as a founder member of the band Pink Floyd, Barrett was the lead singer, guitarist and principal songwriter in its early years and is credited with naming the band. Barrett left Pink Floyd in April 1968 and was briefly hospitalized amid speculation of mental illness exacerbated by his use of psychedelic drugs. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ Syd_Barrett).

The Mad Cap Collective is a collaboration of Asheville, NC musician from bands such as, Alarm Clock Conspiracy, Wham Bam Bowie Band, Marsupial, Pawtooth, Sunshine and the Bad Things, The Dirty Badgers, Velvet Truckstop, CarolinaBound, and many other guest musicians.

There is a Silent Auction planned with over 30 items including; 3 Minifooger Effect Pedals (donated by Moog), Pottery (by local potters), framed prints by some of the artists from Aurora Studio and more!
Tickets are $7 in advance $10 the day of the show.
