-Chef William Dissen, owner/chef of The Market Place restaurant in Asheville, will celebrate his plans for a new restaurant in Charlotte with a July 19 Blind Pig Supper Club dinner to benefit the Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project, the Mountain Xpress reports. The dinner will be themed with offerings Dissen plans to offer at his new eatery, called The Haymaker.

-The Burning Can beer festival returns to Oskar Blues Brewery in Brevard this weekend. The music includes JJ Grey and Mofro, Fruition, The Hip Abduction and Jon Stickley Trio, and the canned beer offerings are many.

-Luella’s 10th Anniversary Celebration, “Meat in the Street,” will be held Saturday, July 22, from noon to 8 p.m. in the parking lot at Luella’s North on Merrimon Avenue. The event will benefit LEAF Community Arts, as we’ll be sharing a portion of proceeds from the event, according to a press release. More:
