Ashvegas: The City You Love. The News You Want. Some of what’s going around:

Steve-O’s pic a hit: The comedian, of Jackass fame, took a selfie that included Asheville’s vibrant fall leaf color – he deemed it “badass as shit” – and shared it on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. In just 24 hours, it has gotten tens of thousands of likes. Can’t buy that kind of marketing. (He brought his stand-up act to The Millroom on Sunday.)

WNC’s beer boom: Former Mountain Xpress reporter Emily Patrick has returned to reporting on Asheville-area food and drink. She has an excellent piece in the latest issue of WNC Magazine that examines the region’s craft brewery trend and whether it will continue to grow.

Hall of Famer: Ronnie Milsap, who was born in Robbinsville way west of Asheville, was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame last night, reports NPR.

Christmas Jam time: Tickets are on sale now for the annual Warren Haynes Christmas Jam.

Doggie costumes: Check out the photos that Terrah Johnson of Le Howl Photography shot of doggies in costume Sunday night at the Aloft Hotel in downtown Asheville. Love, love, love.

Shameless plug for Avery’s Hot Dogs: I love a good hot dog, and Bill of Avery’s Hot Dogs cart has some of the best. Here’s what he’s up to this week. Check him:

Good morning. I will be working private lots today and Wednesday. I will be downtown Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. I’ll also be at Highland brewing tonight, Twin Leaf Brewing on Thursday and Oskar Blues on Friday. Spooky!

Kickstarter of the day: One of my favorite Asheville bands, The Resonant Rogues, have launched a Kickstarter asking the public for $7,500 to record a new record at Echo Mountain Studios. they play old-time music, gypsy jazz and Eastern European-flavored tunes.

Vortex doughnuts is open: On the South Slope. Finally. Yay! More doughnuts!

Taste of Compassion date set: From the press release:

The 11th Annual Taste of Compassion – Around the World with 80 Strays — will take place Saturday, Nov. 15 from 6 pm – 9:30 pm at the Crowne Plaza Resort Expo Center in Asheville. One hundred percent of proceeds benefit local animals in need through the Asheville Humane Society.

Guests will be offered free tastings of over 20 international wines from around the world courtesy of Mutual Distributing. The highly anticipated Taste of Compassion charity auction has upgraded to first class this year with the addition of our host and benefit auctioneer, Ben Farrell. Up for bid will be over one hundred unique items, travel packages and one-of-a-kind experiences.
