pisgah_gabf_winner_release_2014Some more of what’s going around:

Pisgah Brewing featured in film: Pisgah Brewing gets some sweet screen time in the new Dumb and Dumber To flick that’s just out. The lead characters head out to a TED-like event and stumble upon a brewery, where they talk their way into a beer served up in a Pisgah glass.

Want to try some of Pisgah’s delicious beer? On Tuesday, Nov. 18, the brewery is hosting a release party for its GABF gold-medal winning brew, Chocolatized. Here are a few more deets:

Pisgah Brewing in Black Mountain, NC is set to release their award winning Chocolatized Vortex II (which will now only be known as Chocolatized) in 22oz bottles and on draft on Tuesday, November 18th at their taproom. The limited 5bbl batch will only produce around 40 cases to be sold in bottle, so a pre-order has been set-up through Pisgah Brewing’s venue ticketing partner, TicketBiscuit. Bottles will be $12 each, and the release will begin at 6 pm. …

The release will also feature a chocolate pairing from French Broad Chocolate Factory. A pair of chocolate raspberry truffles will be sold separate or with a flight of “Dirty Raz”, one of the Pisgah staff’s favorite flight pairings consisting of a flight each of Chocolatized and Framboise.

Burial Beer changes hours: Burial Beer down on the South Slope has announced that it is going to keep its taproom open longer as it gears up with new brewing capacity. From Burial on FB:

As we gear up to brew our first batches on our 10 barrel system this week, we are starting to expand our taproom hours!
This week we will be open Wednesday-Friday 4-10PM and Saturday 2-10PM. One more day of Burial goodness!
Tuesdays and Sundays to follow in a couple of weeks as those big batches hit the taps!
Moving on up!

Renovations to Asheville Citizen-Times building: A construction crew has been busy renovating the back half of the ground floor of the Asheville Citizen-Times building at 14 O.Henry Ave. as the newspaper prepares to once again distribute its print product from the downtown location. The newspaper distribution site is currently in Woodfin. Many moons ago, the newspaper was printed and distributed from the O.Henry Ave. location. Printing was eventually moved off site to a location on Sardis Road in western Buncombe County. The press was shuttered a few years ago, and printing was moved to Greenville, S.C., the home of sister newspaper The Greenville News, and then to a press in Spartanburg, S.C. Printing will remain in Spartanburg for the time being.
