Nightbell restaurant will close for good on Jan. 27, reports chef and owner Katie Button, who announced the closure with a social media post on Monday. Button and her family own Curate, Button’s Bagels and Nightbell. In addition, Katie Button is leading up the creation of the big new Asheville food festival coming in September. Here’s more from the Monday announcement:

We feel that the closure is a necessary step in order for our company to grow, and Felix Meana and I are deeply grateful to those who have supported Nightbell over the years – our staff, local purveyors and farmers and the Asheville community. Guests can continue to visit us downstairs at Button & Co. Bagels and at Cúrate, and we hope to share plans for the next chapter in the near future.

Stu Helm, Asheville’s biggest food fan, will be emceeing the first ever live Stoobie Awards ceremony at the Asheville Masonic Temple on Jan. 28. Tickets are on sale for $25 and include a ton of food from some of Asheville’s best restaurants. Stu will be announcing the winners in categories such as Fancy Meal of the Year, Food Maker of the Year and Most Consistent(ly) Awesome. See you there!

A new Dunkin’ doughnut shop is planned adjacent to the Triangle Stop convenience store that’s next to the Asheville Regional Airport.

J&S Cafeteria across from the Asheville Regional Airport closed Friday for renovations and updates. The plan is to reopen at some point, the Hendersonville Times-News reports.

Tupelo Honey restaurant has announced that it is renovating and expanding its south Asheville location on Hendersonville Road.

Brooklyn Bro’s, a south Asheville pizza joint, is opening a new location in the space above Paradox nightclub on South French Broad Ave. That’s the former New Mountain AVL space.

There’s a new restaurant and brewery in the works for what I like to call “Lest Asheville,” that geography in between downtown Asheville, West Asheville and Leicester. The new brewery/restaurant is called Restless Natives. The location is on Mooseheart Lane near the big Leicester Highway/Patton Avenue intersection.
