Here’s more of what’s going around, including a couple of new Asheville tours:

Asheville Food Tours is launching a new West Asheville walking food tour to be led by Davaion Bristol, a local who is known as musician Spaceman Jones. Under that moniker, Bristol has developed a unique sci-fi-flavored rap style. But he’s also been around West Asheville for a long time, and apparently loves food. Stops will include some of the best eateries on the westside, including The Admiral.

Asheville Detours is a new tour company led by Kasey Hotchkiss, a veteran tour guide who formerly led a food tour. Asheville Detours has tours designed for bachelorette parties, music lovers and folks looking for team-building. The “Music Detour,” will be led by a local musician and include interactive experiences, such as a drumming lesson and a tour of a local music factory.

-Dalton Distillery, Asheville’s downtown distillery and maker of delicious rum, is planning to offer tours soon.

-And in case you missed it, there’s a new food tour coming to the South Slope. It’s being organized by Tracey Morgan Gallery. More to come on that.

-N.C. Sen. Chuck Edwards of Hendersonville has filed a bill in the North Carolina General Assembly to require Asheville to move to elect City Council members by districts, reports Blue Ridge Public Radio. The move is opposed by all other state lawmakers representing Buncombe County, as well as the Asheville City Ccouncil and a  majority of Asheville voters who voted against the proposal in a referendum.

-Dynamite Roasting is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.

-Burial Beer is celebrating its fifth anniversary with a Sunday party.

-Curate restaurant’s wine offerings have been recognized by Wine Enthusiast, which has named it one of the 100 Best Wine Restaurants in the U.S.
