Some of what’s going around for this Monday:
-Asheville police are continuing to investigate the shooting death of 23-year-old Candace Pickens, who was found dead on Friday in a park next to Jones Elementary School in north Asheville, according to reports. Her 3-year-old son, Zachaeus Latese Waters, was found near her body, alive but critically injured. Police have arrested and charged Nathaniel Elijah Dixon with the shooting death with the death of an unborn child (Pickens was pregnant.) He was arrested in Ohio.
-There’s a new art studio tour in town called Asheville Art Studio Tours. The two-hour, walking tour is led by an artist and is billed as “the best way to encounter the River Arts District.” Check it.
–Sky Zone indoor trampoline park is planning to open in Gerber Village on Hendersonville Road, according to loyal reader John.
-Also, Orange Theory Fitness is also opening up in the Publix shopping center. They are apparently really popular on the Left Coast. From their website:
The physiological theory behind the Orangetheory workout is known as “Excess Post-Exercise Oxygen Consumption,” or EPOC. By providing you with a heart-rate monitor and POD, we can monitor your 5-zone interval training sessions that we call the Orange 60. -What’s happening at 520 Haywood Road? It looks like that space has finally been rented.
