-In case you missed it: Pierre Griffin, who was charged with killing three people in 2015, pleaded guilty to murders and was sentenced to life without parole. The bodies of Alex King and Tatianna Diz were found in the French Broad River, and the third victim, Uhon Johnson, was found at Pisgah View Apartments.
-Also in case you missed it: Brenda Kay McCutcheon, the wife of plastic surgeon Dr. Frank Buddy McCutcheon, who was found shot dead in the couple’s home, was indicted on first-degree murder charges and turned herself in to police last week.
-There’s a new mural up on Pink Dog Creative’s shipping containers on Depot Street in the Asheville River Arts District. Here’s more from a press release:
In a continued effort to build bridges between the River Arts District and the Southside community. Pink Dog Creative has commissioned the second of our Southside neighbors, Jenny Pickens, to design and paint a mural. Jenny grew up in the Southside community and is an accomplished artist. Her design, entitled Zolas Embrace (peaceful earth) depicts a woman stitching the world back together.
Pickens says “With so much negative energy going on worldwide, I wanted to show mother nature repairing the world with the love that’s been lost. We all share a common goal. Peace on earth.”

–Patton Avenue Pet Company has a sweet new website.
–Fox Factory Holding Corporation has announced plans to move its regional headquarters, including sales, finance, research and development, service and distribution, into a 20,000-square-foot building in South Asheville, WLOS-TV reports. Fox Holding Corp makes high end suspension products for off-road vehicles. Their new facility located on Underwood Road outside Fletcher. The company expects to create about 50 new jobs over the next five years.
–Asheville City Soccer Club, which launched a professional men’s soccer team in Asheville earlier this year, has announced that it will launch a women’s team in 2018. Tryouts for the women’s team will begin Jan. 6.
-The annual Warren Wilson College fall meat sale will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday at the farm granary. More:

We will have freezers full of pork, beef, and chicken cuts for sale.
Additionally, the Warren Wilson Garden Crew will be selling organic vegetables, and Warren Wilson Craft Crews will be selling a variety of their wares (fiber products, woodworking tools, etc.) As a reminder, we only have the capacity to to accept CASH or CHECKS. – Tracey Morgan Gallery will present What Goes on Here, a solo exhibition of works on paper, by Asheville based artist Kirsten Stolle. The exhibition features three series: Chemical Bouquet, By the Ton, and Faith, Hope, & $5,000. A reception for the artist will be held on Friday, December 1, from 6-8 p.m. More:
Stolle’s carefully composed collages and text-based works examine the influence of agribusiness and biotech companies on our food supply. Mining source materials such as 20th century medical books, agricultural equipment catalogs, and archival photographs, Stolle’s evocative work responds to corporate propaganda and challenges industry narratives.
–WNC Coins, a new retail coin shop, has opened at 1987-C Hendersonville Road in south Asheville. Here’s more from loyal reader Michael:
