-There’s a new mural up on Pink Dog Creative’s shipping containers on Depot Street in the Asheville River Arts District. Here’s more from a press release:

In a continued effort to build bridges between the River Arts District and the Southside community. Pink Dog Creative has commissioned the second of our Southside neighbors, Jenny Pickens, to design and paint a mural. Jenny grew up in the Southside community and is an accomplished artist. Her design, entitled Zolas Embrace (peaceful earth) depicts a woman stitching the world back together.

Pickens says “With so much negative energy going on worldwide, I wanted to show mother nature repairing the world with the love that’s been lost. We all share a common goal. Peace on earth.”

Pickens will be completing the mural over the next two weeks. To see work in progress, stop by Pink Dog Creative, 342-348 Depot St..

WNC Coins, a new retail coin shop, has opened at 1987-C Hendersonville Road in south Asheville. Here’s more from loyal reader Michael:

Of course you can buy coins anywhere (including us), but where do you go if you want to sell your coins for a fair value? The goal of our business is to answer that question. We are offering free estimates, estate appraisal services, we will even test gold and silver coins for free (using our state of the art electronic tester) if customer wants to verify that their gold or silver coin is genuine. In short we are here to be a part of the community, not just a shop in the community.
