-The 27 Club bar opened recently along Patton Avenue in downtown Asheville.

-Federal immigration agents continued to arrest and detain residents in the Asheville area on Tuesday, following the arrests of more than a dozen people in Buncombe and Henderson counties over the past weekend. -Two years after competing head-to-head with Asheville to land Deschutes craft brewery, Roanoke officials and residents are feeling let down as the brewer has announced plans to possibly delay construction of its new East Coast brewery, the Roanoke Times reports.

In an editorial, the newspaper noted that even though the number of jobs promised by the brewery didn’t compete with other recent job announcements, “here’s a case where Roanoke went head-to-head with our long-time bete noir of Asheville, North Carolina — and won. Deschutes’ decision to locate in Roanoke was a huge confidence boost for a community that had long felt it couldn’t win anything. Now . . .was it all for naught?” Why is Deschutes hitting the pause button? The editorial goes on to note that the big growth engine that had been craft beer has significantly slowed the past couple of years.

-There’s a new outdoor tour company opening in Asheville. NCLINE Adventures founder Greg Vaeth, an entrepreneur who founded the MTN Merch gift store and sold it, says his new venture is fully licensed and insured to operate in Pisgah National Forest and will provide “unique outdoor experiences for those looking to explore the Western North Carolina mountains.” Twin Leaf Brewery will host a launch party for NCLINE Adventures on April 28.

-Early voting for this year’s primary election, set for May 8, will start Thursday.
