-Food and Wine honors Button: Asheville Chef Katie Button of Curate and Nightbell in town has been named one of 10 Best New Chefs of 2015 by Food & Wine magazine. From Food & Wine:

The new class of chefs are an innovative, eclectic and incredibly talented group. They include a cook who took over his family’s luncheonette outside Boston, a guy who is making Indianapolis a food destination with transformative breakfasts, and a woman whose Asheville, North Carolina restaurant is the coolest Spanish tapas spot in the country. Look for their influence to spread. “Food & Wine Best New Chefs set the trends for restaurants around the U.S.,” says F&W’s Editor in Chief Dana Cowin.

These amazing chefs from 10 restaurants will be featured in F&W’s July issue and showcased at the 33rd annual Food & Wine Classic in Aspen.

-Dim sum: The new Red Ginger Dim Sum & Tapas restaurant work is going full steam ahead on the ground floor of the Capital Center building on Patton Avenue in downtown.

Water for Elephants on Broadway: Asheville novelist Sara Gruen’s best-seller Water for Elephants is going to be a Broadway play, I learned reading The Laurel. Variety had deets in January.

-Oven Covenwilde in the spotlight: Coven Oldenwilde in West Asheville reports that CNN is planning to film the coven on Wednesday for a documentary highlighting diverse cultures. “Arrive in full Witchy regalia (or wear black). We’ll cast circle, and do cauldron fire leaping, chanting & singing (bring a musical instrument to play if you wish), and a Cakes & Wine ceremony.”

-Hottie Coffee: That’s the name of what a Craigslist Asheville ad says will be the first beach-themed, drive-thru coffee shack in Asheville. “Must be comfortable working in beach wear,” says ad seeking employees.
