The demolition work is scheduled to go through March, according to a permit posted at the property, and will affect downtown traffic with lane closures. -New Chipotle restaurant coming along: Work is moving quickly on the new Chipotle on Hendersonville Road in south Asheville. They’re shooting for a Dec. 19 opening.

-New Elvis-in-Asheville record: ElvisNews.com reports that there’s a new CD coming next year of one of Elvis’s concerts in Asheville. Next year is the 40th anniversary of the Elvis show:

The Touchdown label has chosen the July 22nd 1975 show from Asheville for their next release.  Rare songs are outstanding in this show like “Memphis Tennessee”, or “Shake A Hand”, both complete, and the only known live version from “Why Me Lord” with which Elvis also takes over the part of J.D.Sumner and joins in the singing not as usual only the refrain. The whole show is stamped by a fantastic set list. The Fans, who also have Audience admissions of the King with pleasure have in the collection, will be inspired.

And here’s a great review of the Elvis show from scottymoore.net.

-Diamond Brand Grand opening: There’s a grand opening event on Thursday to celebrate Diamond Brand’s new store in the Aloft Hotel in downtown Asheville. The event goes from 4-8 p.m., with a 5:30 ribbon-cutting. Diamond Brand recently opened two new stores – the one in downtown at Aloft, as well as one on at 1378 Hendersonville Road in Parkway Centre. The company also just moved its Frugal Backpacker store from south Asheville to Westgate Shopping Center.

-White Christmas in Asheville? Not likely, according to this AccuWeather long-range forecast.

-River Whyless record: The Asheville band River Whyless has announced it will release a new self-titled record on Jan. 20.

We spent 5 days at La La Land in Louisville KY with the amazing Kevin Ratterman and rather surprised ourselves with the finished product. It was our first time recording live to tape. It was our first time with someone else lending an outside ear. And it feels to us like the whole process brought new life to the band that we can’t wait to share with you. While we can’t quite give you any music yet, we wanted to share the news and let you know that we’ll be hitting the road in support of the release! Peep the album artwork and the tour dates below.
