Here’s more of what’s going around, including Asheville Chef Katie Button’s plans for a new bagel shop:

-After lots of legal wrangling, the N.C. State Board of Elections appointed members to all county boards of election today. The Buncombe County Board of Elections is officially: Republicans Stephen Duncan and Jay Watson, and Democrats Jake Quinn and Lucy Mardis Smith.

-There’s a new Asheville craft brewery in the works. Two former brewers at Burial Beer, JT Murrett and Vince Tursi, have joined with Mike Semenec to open a brewery called DSSØLVR at 63 N. Lexington Ave., the Mountain Xpress reports. DSSØLVR is slated to open in early 2019, with brewing operations to begin later this year.

-Charlie’s Angels Animal Rescue, in partnership with Aloft Asheville Downtown, has been named one of nine finalists with a chance to win $350,000 in Petco Foundation’s 2018 Innovation Showdown, according to a press release. The nomination is based on the rescue’s innovative approach to finding homes for dogs through its Aloft Asheville dog adoption program, which has resulted in nearly 100 adoptions and sparked other hotel adoption programs across the country. For Charlie’s Angels to win, folks have to vote online here. Voting ends April 9. Two finalists have already been chosen, and the third and final spot will go to the one organization with the most votes. The final three will then pitch their ideas Shark Tank-style onstage at the Humane Society of the United States’ Animal Care Expo. The winner will be selected by a panel of judges, made up of investors representing the nation’s top animal welfare organizations.
