Some of what’s going around:

Burgerworx is opening a new restaurant in the Hendersonville Road shopping center that’s also home to the Fresh Market and Diamond Brand. The new burger joint will be going in the former Parkway Bistro space.

Arancini on Haywood Road has closed. Here’s the message the owners posted on FB:

We wish to thank all of you from the very bottom of our hearts for the kindness and support you have shown us over the last 4 months. At this time, due to circumstances beyond our control, we are unfortunately closing our doors as Arancini Wine Bar & Kitchen.
We love the community in West Asheville, and again thank you for everything.
Sincerely,
Daniel & Katrina O’Donell

-The south Asheville locations of Luella’s (Biltmore Park) and Farm Burger (Gerber Village) are now open.

Mackensy Lunsford at the Asheville Citizen-Times reports that there are two new restaurants opening on Haywood Road in West Asheville: 12 Baskets Cafe at 742 Haywood Road will accept donations and feed all who enter, regardless of their ability to pay; and UpCountry Eatery is opening beside Altamont Brewing on Haywood Road. Here’s a press release posted on Altamont Brewing’s website:

At the UpCountry Eatery we will focus on great beers and the great outdoors by providing locally sourced food in a non-pretentious, fun and affordable way. The restaurant will be renovated over the next couple of months to bring the brewery and the restaurant together and to create an environment that is fun and relaxed.
Upcountry Eatery will be a 99 seat restaurant focusing on local and seasonal food made from scratch. We will be drawing inspiration from the outdoors with our outside patio, wood fired grill and open kitchen. Expectations are to hold special beer tasting dinners, VIP tours, and group events.

Finally, Lunsford reports that the owners of Asheville Pizza and Brewing will be opening a drive-through taco joint on Merrimon Avenue called Asheville Tacos and Taps. The location is the former Brat Burger at 707 Merrimon Ave.

Jason, you should do a separate post about 12 Baskets. It’s a pretty awesome place.

Luella’s is in Biltmore Park, not Biltmore Village. Farm Burger is across Hendersonville Rd from Gerber Village.

Thank you . . . as a Village resident, I knew that didn’t sound quite right.
