-Bubble soccer coming to town: How about some bubble soccer? Here’s the announcement from bubblesoccer.com:

Without further ado, the National Association of Bubble Soccer is happy to announce the launch of our Asheville affiliate, Asheville Bubble Soccer, headed by the lovely folks over at Race of Awesome, Richard Handy & Shannon Rupert.

Richard & Shannon created the Race of Awesome as a fundraising entity to create events that incorporate community service, education and financial assistance to non-profits. In addition to giving back, Asheville Bubble Soccer & Race of Awesome also looks to incorporate four other key elements: live music, unique athletic challenges, costumes and of course, bubble soccer. Their hope is to make the world a better place and encourage people too look at competitive sporting events as a vehicle for creating lasting change.

So it goes without saying that when you play bubble soccer, not only are you having a blast, but you’re also helping awesome people do awesome things for their communtiy! How ’bout them apples? Bubble Soccer Asheville, changing the world one bumper ball at a time…

Asheville Bubble Soccer will be servicing the surrounding areas of Asheville as well, including Biltmore Forest, Woodfin, Swannanoa, Black Mountain, Leicester, Fairview, Gerten, Fletcher, Arden, Fruitland, Mills River, Canton, Clyde, Waynesville, Weaverville, Hendersonville, Etowah, and Flat Rock just to name more than a few. -Standard Pizza is planning to open a second location on Biltmore Avenue in the former City Mac location there; it’s a location that’s also near Hi-Wire Brewing’s new production facility and tasting room.

-Developers are planning to build a new multi-story, 56-unit apartment building in Biltmore Park.

-Developers also plan to build a 254-unit, multi-family development on 9.5 acres on Thompson Street near Biltmore Village.

-Battle of the Burger returns: Here’s the info:

This August 23, Asheville Food Fights Presents the 2nd Annual WNC Battle of the Burger from 2-5pm, at The Salvage Station in the River Arts District. Local restaurants can be nominated via social media on Asheville Food Fights Facebook page, or at [email protected].  Restaurants will set up grills and griddles and cook up thousands of burger samples for the attendees while great local music keeps the crowd groovin’. Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. will be pouring ice cold beer to keep folks cool while the competition heats up!

How Much: Tickets are free for General Admission

“You Be the Judge Tickets” are $30 for unlimited burgers, complimentary beer, early entrance and a ballot to vote for WNC’s Best Burger
