-Word on the street is that Bonfire Barbecue on Patton Avenue is expanding into an adjacent space in its shopping center location. Think outdoor patio, games, etc.

-Anyone know what’s up with the former Xcapades topless club location on New Leicester Highway? The location has been closed for several years after former N.C. Rep. Tim Moffitt accompanies local police on a raid of the joint.

-The Asheville-based country roots band the Honeycutters will play The Crossing stage on Saturday, Dec. 12, according to a press release. The show is free and open to the public as part of the Music In The Mill concert series. Doors open at 8 pm and the show begins at 8:30 pm.

-Asheville Outlets is partnering with iHeart Media, 99.9 Kiss County and the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve this holiday season for the annual Toys for Tots Toy Drive Marathon according to a press release. More:

Morning show hosts Eddie Foxx and Sharon Green will be joined by representatives of the Marine Corps for a two-day live broadcast at Asheville Outlets beginning at 6 a.m. on December 11th and finishing at 9 p.m. on December 12th.

“We’re so happy to partner with Kiss Country and the Marines to help Toys for Tots,” said Sharon Morgan, General Manager, Asheville Outlets. “It’s been so heartwarming to see people’s generosity and their willingness to give back to those in need during the holiday season.”

Asheville Outlets began accepting donations for Toys for Tots on November 1st. The radio marathon is a push to collect as many toys and cash contributions before the campaign concludes on December 13th. Donations will be distributed throughout eight Western North Carolina counties. Last year WNC Toys for Tots helped over 9,000 area children.

-The longest running New Year’s Eve dance party in WNC, The New Year’s Freak Out, celebrates it’s 10th year this year, according to a press release. More:

Includes DJs, performances, and a raunchy bear rapper named Big Dipper. Also joining the occasion is D.Y.D.H. fashion icon and performance artist Danik Yopp.

The NYE Freak Out was formed by a group of D.I.Y. punks, music nerds, and former radio pirates. The goal was to have a NYE party that wasn’t just another basement punk show. Often times the party was invite only to squash any drama or unwanted attention. Spaces over the years ranged from huge forgotten R.A.D. warehouses to unfinished downtown lofts. This year marks the parties tenth year in production and is not to be missed.
