Celebrity Chef Sean Brock was spotted in Asheville Tuesday, and dined at Sovereign Remedies restaurant.

Chef Graham House at Sovereign tells me he spotted Brock on the street in downtown Asheville and invited him in for some food. House says he fed Brock muscadine braised della cotta (a type of squash), a brown rice dish with pickled corn and blistered tomato and some crispy chicken skins.

House says Brock, in turn, let him thumb through a rare copy of a Noma fermentation guide.

Brock was in Highlands with three other James Beard Award-winning chefs earlier this week to cook a dinner organized by Highlands Food & Wine and Southern Foodways Alliance, all to honor Chef Louis Osteen.

Sean Brock, best known for his Husk restaurants in Charleston and three other cities, recently announced that he was leaving the Neighborhood Dining Group in Charleston and would be an advisor to Husk, but not associated with its other restaurants, McCrady’s, McCrady’s Tavern and Minero. Brock will focus on his restaurants in Nashville, according to Eater.com.
