More from event organizers:
Events start at 7pm at the ZaPow Pre-Party. Join us there for live music, a raffle to support the Zombie Walk, zombie target practice, face-painting, zombie makeup, free beer, palm reading, and more.
We will also be showing the premiere of the Walking Dead’s third season at One Stop at 9pm, followed by the premiere of Agent 23 Skidoo’s video “Shambles,” shot at the Asheville Zombie Walk in 2011.
Visit each pub on the map to enter into Multiverse’s Zombie Pub Crawl Bingo, and be entered to win a prize. Details to be given at the Pre-Party.
To easily identify the pubs on our route throughout the night, look for the zombie-bitten brain poster at participating locations. Participating bars will have zombie-related specials and events up to their own discretion.

This year, the dead don’t walk, but they do crawl. Ashtoberfest, the spooky sponsors of the annual zombie walk, are doing a zombie pub crawl instead.
According to sponsors, downtown pubs will be decorated for the occasion, with themed food and drink specials. A 7 p.m. pre-party is kid-friendly,with face-painting, zombie makeup and palm reading.
Here’s details from a press release:
October 1, 2012 – Ashtoberfest, creators of the Asheville Zombie Walk, are sponsoring a Zombie Pub Crawl in downtown Asheville on Sunday, October 14, 2012.
A pre-party will be held at ZaPow! Studio and Gallery from 7:00-9:00 PM, featuring face painting, palm reading, live music, art viewing, zombie makeup, a raffle, and lots of undead fun! Local musician Ben Wilson will perform his original spooky tunes, and the French Broad Brewing Company is giving free beer to zombies who entered the realm of the undead after their 21st birthday.
At 9:00 PM, zombies will be “turned loose upon downtown” for the Pub Crawl proper. Several bars within walking distance will have themed food and drink specials, and will be decorated for the occasion. Participating bars include the Bier Garden, the Yacht Club, Thirsty Monk, Lexington Avenue Brewery, and the Vault.
Since 2006, Ashtoberfest has brought the Asheville community fun in the form of a free, family event dripping with fake blood and shambling. Occurring annually on the second Sunday in October, in conjunction with World Zombie Day, Ashtoberfest has always been, and will always remain a free event, that is fun for all ages.
This year’s Zombie Pub Crawl is co-sponsored by Stuff Monsters Like.com, the blog that reminds everyone that it’s okay to be afraid, as long as you are laughing. Pre-party host ZaPow! is the only narrative and illustration art gallery in the Southeast.
