The American Idol televised talent search and show will hold live auditions in Asheville in August. More details will be released about the exact time and place of the audition.

The rebooted show features pop starlet and judge Katy Perry, who earlier this week announced that an American Idol bus tour would make stops in 19 cities across the country, from Portland, Oregon and Oakland, Chicago, Boston, Miami and cities in between. The show will air on ABC, a move away from Idol’s original home on Fox. Other judges will be announced later this year.

Asheville native Caleb Johnson was the winner of the last American Idol season back in 2014. That year was the show’s 13th season. With declining ratings, the show ended two seasons later, but has been rebooted and is ready for its return.

You have to be between the ages of 15 and 28 to audition, and you can apply in person or online.

Stay tuned!
