Asheville entrepreneurs Doug Stevens and his business partner Leslie McCullough Casse will launch their board and apparel business, Ashevillain, with a big party on Sept. 14 at The Orange Peel. I wrote about Doug a year ago as he was first getting his business together. He’s got a great concept: he’s playing off Asheville’s gritty skateboard culture, while making beautiful bamboo and maple longboards. Ashevillian plans to eventually make other decks, such as snowboards.
The company’s first series of longboard decks, dubbed “The Naked Series,” include four styles. They’re lean and sleek looking. Ashevillain also sells apparel, such as snapback hats and T-shirts, as well as stickers and a line of colored and scented skate wax recycled from candle remnants collected from area spas and restaurants.
Ashevillain is located in the Riverside Business Park out in Woodfin. It sells boards locally at Push and Flipside. Get out and support Ashevillain. Here’s the press release:
We are extremly excited to announce the official Ashevillain launch party, Saturday Sept. 14th 2013, at the 1st annual B3 Series. The B3 Series is a series of extreme sporting events that incorporates boards, bands, and beer. The first B3 Series will be a Rail Jam hosted at both the Orange Peel and Wicked Weed Brewery, followed by several bands at the Peel. There will be over $1000 dollars in Cash and Prizes!
The event will also be a fundraiser for the non profit A.Skate Foundation. A.Skate Foundation is an organization that host skate clinics across the country for children with autism. The clinics are held at no cost to the parents and all safety equipment is provided. A percentage of all ticket sales and all raffles proceeds will go to A.Skate Foundation. We are planning to host a clinic in Asheville next Spring! Tickets are$10.
Thanks for all that have helped us over the years! We could not have done this without you, and thats why we would love for you to come out and celebrate with us. Come watch great skating, listen to good music, have a cold beer, knowing that it is all for a great cause!
