   Nigeria has joined many other African countries in passing draconian anti LGBT laws. As citizens of a progressive enlightened community like Asheville, we should be sending a clear signal to those haters that they are not welcome here. This is an opportunity to make a clear statement that jailing, beating, or murdering anyone suspected of being gay is a clear violation of human rights and there are consequences. The City should not be rolling out the welcome mat to a delegation from a country that uses both the Muslim and Christian religions to oppress a vulnerable population. Send a message home: we don’t condone hate!

   Welcome to Asheville, Sister City Delegation! ArtSpace Charter School is presently showing a private African Art Exhibit on loan from a local collection and would love an opportunity to share this exhibit, to have the delegation meet with the collectors, and tour this public charter school specializing in arts integration during the delegation’s visit to Asheville. The school is on Spring Break (week of March 30 through April 6) but is open to the delegation at their convenience or on April 7 from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m..
