Francine Delany 8th Graders Host Spider Martin’s Selma to Montgomery Exhibit

Students at Francine Delany New School for Children will host a photography exhibit of images from the march in Selma, now known as Bloody Sunday, on March 10-12th. After studying the Civil Rights Movement, nonviolence, and specifically the Voting Rights Act of 1965, 8th grade students will prepare and curate an exhibition of iconic images from photographer, Spider Martin.

Mr. Martin’s images reflect the violence of Bloody Sunday, a day that ignited the nation towards action, a day depicted in the recent film, Selma. To culminate the exhibit students will gather on March 12th to hear from local Civil Rights leader, Reverend Clark Olsen, about his experience 50 years ago, in Selma, Alabama.
