altamontAshvegas told you here that changes were in the works for the little wine bar inside Treasure Keepers at 12 Church Street in downtown. The initial word from the Treasure Keepers folks was that a restaurant was coming in, but that’s not quite right.

Mackensy Lunsford at Asheville Scene reports:

The Altamont Theatre is taking over the lease of a Church Street building that formerly housed the Heavenly Spirits Wine Bar and Treasure Keepers antiques shop. In the building, just two doors up Church Street from The Altamont, the owners will open a small bar, The Green Room.

It will offer wines from the cheap to the upper-tier, with selections from Sour Grapes wine distributors. The bar will serve a full line of liquors, from the basic to fine Scotch. There will also be craft beers on tap. And a backyard patio will allow for outdoor imbibing.

A light menu is also in the works, according to Altamont owner Brian Lee.
