From Mackensy Lunsford of the Asheville Scene reports on the cider trend:

In June, the first of three cideries will open. Noble Cider, the brainchild of husband-and-wife team Trevor and Joanna Baker and their partners Lief Stevens and Meda Thurston, will sell kegs of cider to local bars to carry on tap.

Two more cideries are set to follow suit.

David Bowman and Jessica Puzzo are opening Black Mountain Ciderworks, slated to open by the summer, pending a number of federal and state permits.

The duo plan initially to sell only 20-ounce bottles.

And in late summer/early fall, Urban Orchard Cider Company will open on Haywood Road across from Short Street Cakes.
