From Asheville Scene:

Dolphus Ramseur of Ramseur Records, the Avett Brothers’ manager, confirmed the Avetts as the surprise guests at tomorrow night’s Warren Haynes Christmas Jam at the U.S. Cellular Center.

The lineup for the sold-out Christmas Jam is already star-studded, with the String Cheese Incident, Blind Boys of Alabama, Trombone Shorty and multiple Grammy winner Sheryl Crow making her first Asheville appearance.

They could be playing their own huge gig in town and raking in the dough, but they decided to play this gig for no money to help out Habitat for Humanity. Music aside, they’re cool in my book.

Don’t forget to check out the Satellite Gallery XMas Jam rock poster art show. 55 Broadway. 50% of all proceeds go to habitat for humanity! This years show is GREAT and the gallery is open all day Saturday pre-jam. JML

I guess I’m the only one in town who still doesn’t get what all the fuss about the Avett Brothers is.
