This definitely looks worth checking out: Outstanding local restaurants including the likes of Curate and Chai Pani are part of an event in which they offer special–and very affordable– prix-fixe meals all week long during the first week of February.

$15 for lunch at Curate? A $30 three-course dinner at Posana, Rezaz, Vincenzo’s AND Red Stag? YES, PLEASE.

From ExploreAsheville.com:

In Asheville, you would be hard pressed to find a restaurant that doesn’t embrace the key tenets of farm-to-fork dining. Dubbed the world’s first Foodtopian Society, Asheville is home to nearly 250 independent restaurants, 20 regional tailgate markets and a growing number of craft breweries. Our commitment to using fresh, locally-sourced ingredients, has earned Asheville the designation as one of the top ten food and wine destinations in the United States by readers of TripAdvisor, and has garnered high-praise by the likes of Anthony Bourdain, Rachel Ray, G Garvin, and more.

Now you can enjoy our tastiest cuisine during the inaugural Asheville Restaurant Week, taking place February 1–7, 2013. Participating restaurants will offer a prix fixe menu ranging from $15–$30 per person.

Restaurant Week happens once a year, in January.

How much are the meals during Restaurant Week?

  • Dinner: $30 three-course meal for one person.
  • Dinner: $30 two-course meal for two or

I would be excited if it was like, three for twenty, or two for ten…doesn’t seem like restaraunt week offers real value.

Ex, I can go to curate for lunch any day and order two items of my choice, for $15.00 (croquettes and manchego cheese bruschetta…yum) but where’s the value.

Seems like restaurant week is a marketing gimmick to get people in the door during our “harsh” winters(joke). In NYC, I can eat three for thirty at jean georges, now that’s worth a trip!

JockNJill, I might fear a gimmick if I’d found AIR to be gimmicky in the past. I haven’t. My impression from the campaign is that people are encouraged to get out into the restaurant scene (during a tough month, February) and enjoy a meal that’s a good value and something special for diners during a month of indie solidarity. I’ll let you know if I think they deliver, and you tell me!

I thought that The Asheville Public had closed.

It has. I’m guessing the ARW materials predate the decision to close the restaurant.

Sweet! I’m going to be in Asheville for restaurant week. Could not be happier! Looks like I’ll be eating like a King!
