I hope y’all had a great Thanksgiving break. Time to get back at it. Some of what’s going around, including updates about Retrocade in West Asheville, predictions of rain and much more:

-Rain is in the forecast. Rain? Yes, RAIN! That’s great news, because the Asheville area is in a drought and we basically haven’t seen any rainfall since August. The band news is that all this will arrive in buckets, and with potentially gusty winds. Forecasts are calling for about 2 inches of rain by the end of the day Tuesday, with sustained winds of 30 to 40 mph. Another round of rain arrives Wednesday, with another 1 to 2 inches of precipitation.

-The Star Diner, the new restaurant opening soon in Marshall, is holding a job fair at the restaurant from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday. They’ll be accepting applications for all positions. This restaurant, with former Tupelo Honey Cafe executive chef Brian Sonoskus at the helm, is set to elevate the Madison County dining scene.

-Speaking of job fairs, Publix is holding a job fair for its new Weaverville location on Dec. 13 and 14, at the Hilton Garden Inn in Asheville.crazy_burger_asheville_2016

-Crazy Burger, a new local Venezuelan food truck, is planning to set up shop at 495 Haywood Road in West Asheville. Adolfo Tovar is the owner.

-The Retrocade is moving forward with changes to the interior of the former Pour Taproom at 800 Haywood Road.

-Archetype Brewery has pulled permits for work at 265 Haywood Road. That location is what’s known as Beecham’s Corner, where they’re also working on a new restaurant called Pizza Mind and more.

-More work is coming to Pritchard Park, as I think I’ve mentioned before. Permits have been pulled to “renovate existing landscape, fencing, area lighting, rock placement, irrigation” and more. To my mind, the work will take on added significance in light of the announcement that plans for a new luxury hotel right across the street are moving forward.

-Is Sky Zone Trampoline Park at 1836 Hendersonville Road ever going to open? Their last Facebook update in August said to expect an un-official opening in mid-November.

-More about Calypso, the new downtown restaurant coming to the former Lex 18 space, from the Mountain Xpress.

-Looking ahead, the holiday Flea for Y’all is coming to the WNC Ag Center from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3.

-The annual “pop up” Aluminum Tree Museum has to the Transylvania Heritage Museum at 189 West Main Street in downtown Brevard, notes RomanticAsheville. More:

The blast from the past will take you back to the 1950s when these trees were all the rage. This is a fun, quirky holiday outing that will make you smile and brighten your day. And it’s free to visit (donations appreciated).
