Asheville Mardi Gras ElvisHere’s the press release:

Gather your krewes, dig out those costumes, warm up your dancing shoes, because on Sunday February 10th we’ll be dancing in the streets of Asheville! All are welcome to join in, or just come gander at the 2013 Asheville Mardi Gras Parade and Ball. This year’s parade will be led by our new Mardi Gras King Matt Intrnet Evanoff and Queen Sheila Ann Thibodeaux!

The Parade will step off from Wall Street on Bacchus Sunday, February 10th at 3:05 p.m. rain or shine. We will be parading this year on the same route that we took last year, which will take us up Haywood, turning at the Civic Center and making our way back in front of the Grove Arcade on Paige Ave.

Immediately following the parade, everyone is invited to the 6th annual Queen’s Ball, featuring live performances by Asheville’s only only working cajun/zydeco/Louisiana style dance band “Bayou Diesel”, drum and dance troop “Zabumba!”, our very own Mardi Gras marching band “Asheville Second Line”, and the talented dance troop from the Urban Arts Institute “Eternity.” The ball takes place at Pack’s Tavern’s Century Room located above Packs Tavern. Both Parade and Ball are always free, family friendly and open to the public. This year’s theme is “French Broads and Odd Fellows.”

    1. Via FB search, type “Running of the Winos” and the event page should be the result. I am still working the itinerary. Feel free to message me via FB as well.
