Here’s some great news from loyal reader Franzi and the folks at Asheville Grown, the city’s buy local effort: the organization has launched a new website designed by local web design gurus Craftpeak. Go to ashevillegrown.com to check it out.

More quick stats from Franzi:

-2017 starting out with over 400 participating businesses (new businesses can sign on anytime, as always it is free and easier than ever); all 400 offer awesome year-long discounts for holders of the Go Local card
-22 businesses currently sell the Go Local card and you can purchase it online or at our city public schools: https://ashevillegrown.com/get-your-go-local-card
-In 2016, the organization raised $18,500 for the public schools; since its inception, the organization has raised more than $68,000 for schools
-There’s a new buy local card design by the illustrious Jenny Greer Fares of Sound Mind Creative– – cuz we’re gonna rock your local world this year, more than ever!
-The Asheville Grown print directory launches this Wednesday in the Mountain Xpress and will be distributed throughout the year around town.
-And, of course Mr. Stu Helm did a little thingy with yours truly on the airwaves recently – where we talk about local and Urban Outfitters Pizza.
