The 6th annual Asheville Food Truck Showdown is set for May 18 at the WNC Ag Center. The event features 18 local food trucks, local craft beer, local music and more. Here are the details:

The 6th Annual Asheville Food Truck Showdown sponsored by Fred Anderson Nissan and Bath Fitter South will take place from noon until 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 18 in the Boone Building of the WNC Ag Center. Admission is free.

We are once again featuring 18 food trucks, local craft beer by Wicked Weed, a local Artisan Expo showcasing the amazing talent of WNC artists, four live bands and fun activities for the kids including a rock-climbing wall and bounce houses.

The best way to experience food from all 18 trucks is the VIP Tasting Experience, which provides participants early admission to the event, the ability to sample food from all 18 trucks, two beverages of choice (including adult beverages), one Tyvek Bracelet for use during the event to purchase additional adult beverages, early access to the Anderson Nissan VIP Tasting Tent and the exclusive opportunity to determine the winner of the VIP Taster’s Choice Award.

If the VIP Tasting Experience is not for you, all 18 trucks are offering full menus and you can purchase individual meals from any truck throughout the day.

Awards will be handed out in the following categories: Best Overall, People’s Choice, and VIP Taster’s Choice. This year’s panel of judges for The Best Overall Food Truck will be Mark Rounds (food competition competitor, judge, and baker), Blaine Greenfield (local blogger and host of BLAINESWORLD), and Meherwan Irani (three-time James Beard Award nominee, Executive Chef and Founder of Chai Pani Restaurant Group which includes Chai Pani Asheville, Chai Pani Decatur, MG Road, Botiwalla, Buxton Hall Barbecue, and Spicewalla).

A portion of the proceeds will help support non-profits including Brother Wolf Animal Rescue and No Barriers USA.
