toth_charleston_fashion_week_2014UPDATE March 22: Anna Toth was named a co-winner of Charleston Fashion Week’s Emerging Designer competition on Saturday night, the first time in eight years that the competition ended in a tie. Toth also won the People’s Choice award. Congratulations to Toth!

Earlier this week, Toth was cut from list of designers vying for the title of Emerging Designer at Charleston Fashion Week. But Toth said on Instagram that she’s back in it:

“In an unconventional move, we got “saved!” So we’re finalists at charleston fashion week! All racked up and ready to show.”

UPDATE March 20: Toth showed her collection on Tuesday to an appreciative crowd at Charleston Fashion Week, but did not make the cut in the event’s Emerging Designer Competition, which will be decided later this week. Congratulations to Toth for her notice and her great work. Special thanks to loyal reader Sara for the update.

ORIGINAL POST Jan. 30: Asheville fashion designer Anna Toth, who makes custom denim jeans and other other designs, is one of 20 finalists in the Charleston Fashion Week Emerging Designer Competition. The prestigious week of fashion shows is held in Charleston, S.C., in March, and Toth will have her work on the runways there. If she wins, Toth will take home a $5,000 grand prize, $10,000 worth of web design work and some other goodies.

This is the first time that an Asheville fashion designer has made it into Charleston Fashion Week’s competition. Toth is the owner of Bow + Arrow. She works out of a studio in Asheville’s River Arts District.

More about the competition from Charleston Magazine:

The Top Design 20 chosen by the CFW Fashion Panel as semifinalists will show their Fall 2014 collections on the nights of Tuesday, March 18 through Friday, March 21, 2014. A select number of semifinalists will show each night, where one (1) designer from each evening will then be selected by the panel of judges as a finalist to advance to Saturday evening and have the chance to be named the Grand Prize Winner. The final schedule will be announced by Charleston Fashion Week® at a later date.

Designers must present collections for Fall 2014 or Swimwear/Resort 2015 and include twelve (12) looks in total. Semifinalists will be asked to show eight (8) looks the night of their runway presentations (the nights of Tuesday, March 18 – Friday, March 21). Finalists will be asked to show their entire collections (the original 8 plus an additional 4 looks) on Saturday, March 22, 2014.

Online applications submitted by emerging bridal designers will be reviewed by the CFW Fashion Panel of judges. One Emerging Bridal Designer will be chosen as the Winner to show their collection at Charleston Fashion Week’s® Spring Bridal Show on Saturday, March 22, 2014. Time to be announced at a later date and subject to change.

Congratulations to Anna. We’ll be cheering in March.
