The Asheville-Buncombe League of Women Voters invites its members and the public (men and women!) to the League’s fall kick-off event on Wednesday, August 28th. The event will take place in the upstairs Cinema Lounge at the Carolina Cinemas on 1640 Hendersonville Road, Asheville.

The event will include the showing of the documentary “Wonder Women! The Untold Story of American Superheroines.” This documentary premiered at the 2012 SXSW film festival and explains the historical significance of the comic book super-heroine, and feminist icon, Wonder Woman. More information about the documentary can be found at wonderwomendoc.com.

The event will begin at 6:30 with the showing starting at 7. After the hour long documentary, there will be a brief discussion about the League and its planned activities for this year. This is a family friendly event and young women are especially encouraged to attend. Girls on the Run participants and coaches and Girl Scouts have been invited to the documentary viewing.

There is a suggested $5 donation for non-members. Please visit www.ablwv.org for more information about the event and the League.
