The Asheville bar community is excited to announce their participation in Negroni Week 2015! Presented by Imbibe Magazine and Campari, Negroni Week is an international celebration of one of the world’s great cocktails, and an international commitment to charitable giving and to the community investment that bartenders feel is an unspoken tenet of their profession.
From June 1 to June 7, over 2300 bars around the world will mix their favorite variations on a Negroni and donate a portion of the proceeds from each Negroni sold to a charity of their choice. That means the more Negronis you drink, and the more bars your visit, the more people you help! Here in North Carolina, over 18 bars are participating and 13 (and counting) of those are from Asheville!
Asheville’s tight-knit community of bartenders is working hard to make sure this year’s Negroni Week is a TON of fun and a serious boon to local charities and non-profits. In that spirit, the bars have come together to launch an awesome incentive to get people out.
At any participating bar you’ll pick up a passport. Visit two bars and get two marks on your passport, and you’ll be admitted to a BIG PARTY on Sunday, June 7th with FREE cocktails and FREE bites. We’ll celebrate cocktails, local non-profits, and the beautiful community we all share. The party will be held at Tiger Mountain.
As an additional bonus, those intrepid spirits with the gumption to visit all participating bars on the passport will be rewarded by being entered into a drawing for a seriously sweet prize. We’re not announcing it just yet, but trust us, it will be very worthy.
Even more details on the party will emerge, but suffice to say that June 7 will be a fun day on Lexington!
So what’s a Negroni, you ask? It’s a classic cocktail (and perennial favorite of bartenders) that perfectly balances bitter and sweet, originally containing equal parts of gin, Campari, and sweet vermouth with a twist of orange. The result is velvet and rich, and the opportunities for variation are endless. Here in Asheville, expect to see any number of riffs on the classic: Beer Negronis, Frozen Negronis, Vodka Negronis, Negroni Desserts…who knows!

ASHEVILLE NEGRONI WEEK 2015 with closing party at Tiger Mountain on Lexington Avenue.
What: 13 (and counting) Asheville bars come together with the local and international community to celebrate the Negroni and raise money for multiple local charities and non-profits. Each bar will have it’s own unique Negroni Week menu and donate proceeds from the sale of each Negroni to the charity of their choice. The week will be capped off with a huge party at Tiger Mountain on Lexington with free drinks, bites and lots of revelry.
