Press release here. Excellent ideas:

As a part of the YWCA of Asheville’s ongoing “green” initiatives, we are promoting “Strive Not to Drive Week,” May 17- 21, 2010. We always encourage staff and members to walk, bike or take a bus to get to our facility.

For Strive Not to Drive Week, we are very excited to be unveiling the new YWCA Bike, which will be available for YWCA staff to check out and use to go to meetings, etc. YWCA Executive Director Holly Jones will be riding it in the “Mayor’s Leadership Ride” on Monday, May 17.

In addition, we will be giving away a free 3-month “Commuter Pass” which will provide a multimodal commuter access to our showers, wi fi and a designated locker. Finally, we are offering a discounted “Mulitmodal Membership” for Club W: The YWCA Health & Fitness Center. The Multimodal Membership will be only $25/month for an individual or $47/month for a family for folks who agree to get the YWCA by foot, bike, or bus.

The mission of the YWCA is eliminating racism and empowering women. To find out more go to www.ywcaofasheville.org.
