Word on the street: Twin Cousin is out and Roots Cafe is in for Grey Eagle’s in-club restaurant

Word on the street is that Twin Cousin, the restaurant that serves up Cajun food inside Asheville’s Grey Eagle club, is out and Roots Cafe is moving in. Roots Cafe last year had a cafe up and running on Riverside Drive last year, but the storefront closed. Roots has continued its catering business and is well known for its amazing hummus.

That’s what I’ve got right now. More details to come. Roots is said to be moving in sometime in December.

I always found it odd that GE had such a vegetarian unfriendly food as Twin Cousins. They friend everything in the meet oil so there was 0 vegetarian food there.
That said this is disappointing. I ate at Roots a few times when it was still around and found that they didn't quite have it together. As for the "amazing hummus". To each there own I guess. I found that the Flying Frog Hummus that was mostly displaced by Roots was way better by a long shot.

Damn, I would go there before a show just to eat. I will miss the fried green tomato's.

That's too bad if it's true, the cajun food was one of the major draws of the Grey Eagle…

One of the workers told me the New Orleans folks from Twin Cousins were moving back home real soon. Not sure how soon, but I hope I at least get to have that tasty gumbo Saturday at the Unknown Hinson show.

Sorry to see them go. Their food was an added incentive to attend gigs at The Grey Eagle.

They will be missed.
