There’s a neat little show at the Grove Arcade Arts and Heritage Gallery in Downtown Ashvegas. It’s called Re-Turn to the Land of Oz, and it’s the 2005 National Traveling Exhibition of the American Association of Woodturners.
That’s a lot of lingo. The show features the best woodworking creations of the assocation, all with a Wizard of Oz theme. I thought this little bowl, about five inches in diameter and about two inches tall, was amazing. It’s maple burl, turned, dyed and – get this – the outside of the bowl is inscribed with the first three chapters of Fank Baum’s novel. The writing was done with a wood burner.
