WLOSers looking for news director

Share

A loyal Ashvegas reader points out to us that, according to the WLOS web site, the station is looking for a new news director. We’ve seen that WLOS is advertising for a reporter, photographer and master control person, but he hadn’t seen the news director position advertised.

So Tom Loebig is out? What happened? Anybody know?

Ashvegas has been busy with post holiday fun, but we promise to bring you a big news catch-up. Don’t fret – we’ve been watching. Fires and “Prison Confessions” and such.

Speaking of personnel moves, did y’all see that Jane Robelot is coming back to our TV market to work for WYFF? Some of you old-timers will remember a 20-something Robelot working at WSPA in Spartanburg way back in the day, and then her career taking off in the ’90s. She co-anchored CBS This Morning for about three years, then moved to Atlanta and recently has been dealing with a health issue. She had the mitral valve in her heart operated on.

He’s going to State College, PA to be Program Director for Accu Weather. He’ll be close to all of his family, which is probably the big reason he took the job.

Tom’s departure as News Director has been brewing for months. It should have happened a long time ago…very surprised that it took this long for him to announce.

I have it from the inside that indeed Loebig is on his way north to take a job NOT as a news director. It’s some type of sales gig. So yes … he’s outta there.
