Sigur Rós has reached these strange new heights by never forsaking the unquenchable power or grandiose textures of their music even as they’ve moved toward more conventional song structures. This year’s excellent Kveikur pushes back into the stratosphere, with pieces that hang again like mighty amoeboid monsters, waiting to overtake any new space they find.
