Speaking of going back to school…
Bulldog has this:
In case you missed it, the WLOSers morning trio were talking about memories of their first day of school … went something like this:
Victoria Dunkel – “I remember my sister took me to my kindergarten class and the teacher wrote her name on the board, but I mispronounced it, then got confused and lost my place where she was writing and said it again a different way.”Jay Seltzer – “Uh, there’s nothing on my teleprompter screen, so I must not remember it.”
Bob Cobweb – “Ah, yes, I remember it well. As I left for school the temperature on the gatepost read 76 degrees and there was fog in the low-lying areas, mostly along the river, and my mother asked me if I needed my raincoat. ‘No,’ I told her, ‘the fog will burn off by midmorning and it’s going to be a clear sunny day with maybe a few scattered afternoon clouds – nothing to worry about.’ Well, along about lunchtime, the skies got dark and the bottom fell out. The river flooded downtown Marshall and we were stranded at school on the Island for three days before the rains let up and the rescue teams could get us out. Whew, that was a close one, yessiree.”
